EVA BJÖRG ÆGISDÓTTIR
Icelandic writer
Eva Björg Ægisdóttir, born in 1988 in the coastal town of Akranes, has woven her understanding of small-town life into her acclaimed Forbidden Iceland series.
Her passion for storytelling emerged at an early age, and after winning a short story competition as a teenager, she was inspired to write a book one day.
In 2018, she gained national recognition when she won the Svartfuglinn competition, an award designed to spotlight new crime writers in Iceland. Established by authors Yrsa Sigurðardóttir and Ragnar Jónasson in collaboration with the publishing house Veröld, the competition served as a springboard for her career, introducing Icelandic readers to a fresh and compelling new voice in crime fiction. Since then, the Forbidden Iceland series has been translated into over 20 languages.
